Research Abstract

This study was projected for development and clinical application of the most effective new bactericidal-biocompatible material to conserve the infected pulp tissue.
Following results were obtained :
1. RFLP Analysis of 16S rDNA from Pseudolamibacter alactolyticus.
In this study, we examined the restriction fragment-length polymorphism(RFLP) of the 16S-rDNA amplified by poymerase chain reaction(PCR) to assess phylogenetic heterogeneity of this bacterial species. In conclusion, these data suggested that P.alactolyticus may not be a phylogenetically homogeneous species.
2. Artificial Bacterial Bioflims and Confocal Laser Scanning Microscopic Analysis.
To elucidate the structure and the function of biofilms, mucoid-type Pseudomonas aeruginosa organisms were cultured in broth media supplied. The biofilm structure was visualized by fluorescent staining and were exposed to ciprofloxacin.
These results indicate that the confocal laser scanning microscopical analysis of artificial biofilms was useful to elucidate bacterial functions in bioflims, and may lead to new quantitative estimation of bactericidal efficacy of natibacterial drugs.
3. Tooth development is regulated by epithelial-mesenchymal interactions mediated by the basement membrane. The expression and localization of laminin-5 were temporally and spatially regulated during mouse tooth development. The temporo-spatial changes in basement membrane composition might be related with tooth morphogenesis and cytodifferentiation.
4. The amount of fluoride release from fluoridated restorative materials, fluoride uptake into enamel and dentine, and effect of fluoride on acid resistance of the tooth structures, were evaluated Fluoride releasing materials was effective for prevention of secondary caries.
