Research Abstract |
I STUDIED ON THE HISTORICAL EXCHANGES OF SELF-EXPRESSION, MAINLY THROUGHOUT THE MOVEMENT OF ART EDUCATION IN TAISHO ERA.THE MOVEMENT OF THE FREE-DRAWING EDUCATION, WAS BEGUN BY KANAE YAMAMOTO AND HIS FRIENDS IN 8TH YEAR OF TAISHO ERA.BEFORE FREE-DRAWING EDUCATION, ART EDUCATION WAS ONLY TO COPY THE TEXT BOOKS.SO, SELF-EXPRESSION WAS NOT MAIN PURPOSE OF ART EDUCAION.KANAE YAMAMOTO EMPHASIZED THAT, IN ART EDUCATION, SELF-EXPRESSION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN COPYING THE TEXT BOOKS.TEACHERS WHO DID NOT SATISFY SUCH A TRADITIONAL WAY OF TEACHING, ACCEPTED THIS MOVEMENT, AND IT SPREAD OVER ALL COUNTRY QUICKLY IN A SHORT TIME.THE MOVEMENT OF FREE -DRAWING EDUCATION, INFLUENCED GRATLY TO THE WAY OF ART EDUCATION.BUT THE THOUGHT OF KANAE YAMAMOTO ABOUT ART EDUCATION, HAD NOT BEEN UNDERSTOOD ENOUGH. SOICHI YOKOI, WHO WAS THE TEACHER OF ELEMETARY SCHOOL BELONGING TO NARA GIRLS' HIGHER NORMAL SCHOOL, PROTIECED TEACH "ART LEARNING" BY TREATING ART (ZUGA) AND CRAFT(SHUKOU) AS ONE SUBJECT UNDER THE DIRECTION OF TAKEJI KINOSHITA WHO WAS THE PRESIDENT OF THIS SHCOOL.YOKOI 'S METHOD OF ART EDUCATION WAS LIKLY TO YAMAMOTO'S.BUT THE FORMER IS MORE PRACTICAL THAN THE LATTER.KAMESABUROU FUJIOKA WHO WAS THE TEACHER OF MATUMOTO GIRLS' NORMAL SCHOOL, TRIED TO THEORISE THE FREE-RRAWING EDUCATION BY ITERPRETING SHINTEI-GACHO PSYCHOLOGICALLY.AND JITSUSABURO AOKI WHO WAS THE TEACHER OF MAKI VILLAGE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, (NITA-GUN, SHIMANE-KEN) , ESTABLISHED AND PRACTICED HIS ORIGINAL TEACHING METHOD "SOGA" THAT WAS TO PAINT THE CHILDREN'S DAILY LIFE BY IMAGINATION ON THE BASIS OF SKETCHING. BUT, KANAE YAMAMOTO'S THOUGHT OF ART EDUCATION LEARNING THE FOUNDTION OF ART AND ESTABLISHING ONE'S OWN EXPRESSION THROUGH SELF-EXPRESSION IS IMPORTANT, HAD NOT BEEN UNDERSTOOD BY ANYONE (THE LAST 3MEN INCLUDED). YET, HIS THOUGHT WAS SUCCEEDED TO THE MOVEMENTS OF PRIVATE ORGANIZATION OF ART EDUCATION ESTABLISHED AFTER THE SECOND WORLD WAR, AND IS ALSO SUCCEEDED TO THE MODERN ART EDUCATION.
