Research Abstract |
1. The voice (/asa/) pronounced by the surgical class III patients and normal subjects were analyzed according to FFT method and the coherence between 2 frames were calculated. As a recult, a)the high coherency part was observed in high frequency range in case of the consonant and in low frequency range in case of the vowel. b)at the glide of consonant to vowel, the patr of high coherency was transferring smoothly from low frequency range to high frequency range in normal subjects. But it was not transferring smoothly in the surgical class III patients. 2. This time, the improvements were undertaken to magnify the measuring range and to evaluate the patients' longitudinal data. The results have shown that the measuring range of the system expanded up to 50mm antero-posteriorly and superio-inferiorly and up to12mm transversely. The measurement error after correcting for three dimensional distortion was 1.01mm(]SY.+-。[)0.89. The results suggested that the measuring system could observe accurate tongue movement and superimpose the longitudinal data of tongue movement at palatal region. 3. Therr normal subjects and three patients who are diagnosed as surgical class III malocclusion were selected to investigate tongue movements during articulation of the fricative /s/ (asa/, /usu/, /ese/, /oso/). From the results of the measuring data, a)faster tongus movements were observed in the parts of glide. b)the patients showed jower tongue position and longer duration to produce the sound source than normal subjects.
