Research Abstract |
In this research, we investigated the following three issues. (1) Ontology on the Internet : There are enormous but fragmented knowledge in the Internet. People can organize such knowledge with their background knowledge, and at the same time they also acquire knowledge from the Internet. We developed methods to support the above processes. (1-a) Information Gathering from the Internet with ontology (1-b) Ontology acquisition from the Internet. (2) Integration of ontologies While it is a natural way to assume muptpile ontologies, it is difficult problem to integrate different ontologies. We developed a method to integrate ontologies by statistical methods. (3) Distributed ontology development environment We proposed a distributed ontology development environment to support ontology building on communities. In this environment, a user can build her ontology by referring relations among concepts in her document set. Furthermore users can exchange concepts to each other by mobile agents.
