Research Abstract |
1. For the purpose of educational use of environmental ionizing radiations. we have made a simple gamma-ray counter consisted of a portable survey meter and a pocket-computer. The interface circuit of survey meter and pocket-computer was handmade. The relative intensities of environmental gamma-rays were measured along the road in Fukui. The intensities increased, when passing through tunnels or by cliffs, and the geological effects were observed at Wakasa district. We can use this system as a teaching material of computer-assisted measurement. 2. The measurement system which combined the pocket computer, the digital to analog conversion circuit, the comparator circuit and the counter circuit was established. The student experimented with this device They did the program making maneuver for the measurement and control, and they measured the energy spectrum of gamma rays by the window type pulse height analysis method. Their concerns for the ionizing radiation can be deepened, studying the electronic circuits and the computer 3. We made another apparatus to measre the equvalent dose rate of environmental gamma-rays and to collect the landscape-image of survey route. This consists of a gamma-ray survey meter, AD converter, a note personal-computer, and a digital video camera. We take a picture of the landscape of the survey route, measuring the equivalent dose rate of environmental radiation. The note personal-computer accumulates the data of equivalent dose rate. The data in note personal-computer and the image of survey-route are moved to a personal-computer and are synthesized. As a result, we intuitively understand the relation between the backgroud radiation and the environment. This is effective to the basic education of ionizing radiation.
