Research Abstract |
1) The transcription of two of Wittgenstein's Manuscripts, MS 124 and MS 129 into machine-readable texts has been completed. Professor Hiromi Kai of Tokyo Metropolitan University has cooperated in transcribing MS 124. Our drafts were partly checked against those of Wittgenstein Archives in Bergen in December 1997. This has brought some gain for both parties. 2) Oku acted as a beta version tester of Wittgenstein Nachlass CD-ROM Vol. I by WAB and Oxford University Press. Some suggestions have been realized in the product version. 3) Three reports on this project, namely, Wittgenstein and the Vienna Circle, the Change of trends in Wittgenstein Studies, and Wittgenstein Text Studies, were discussed in academic society meetings. 4) Oku gave a lecture at WAB on 11th December 1977 and its revised version has been printed in Working Papers from WAB No. 15, 1998. 5) Minute examinations of the relations of several manuscripts and typescripts up to "Philosophical Investigations" and their implications are discussed in the main report. Two lists of correlations are attached there. 6) In the course of this project, the problem of editing "Zettel" has been realized. As a result, an international cooperative research with Alois Pichler of WAB on this matter is now in progress.
