Research Abstract |
"Nennai-shozinikki" (NENNNAI-SYOJINIKKI) is known as "Daikokuya-nikki"(DAIKOKUYA-NIKKI). It is one of the most noticed farmer's diaries in Bakumatsu-ishin period. And it si widely known that Toson Shimazaki, a novelist, wrote the memorandum titled "Daikokuya-nikki-syo" (DAIKOKUYA-NIKKI-SYO) and his most representative novel titled "Yoakemae" (YOAKEMAE) by means of these diaries. But nobody except Toson can not read these original diaries before my research project. Because they were not opended to the public, the institution are inconveniently situated on Magome Village in. Nagano prefecture. If we get them, it is difficult to read them because of character written in cursive style (KUZUSIJI) and their massive volumes, 31 vol. On this research project, first of all I made the copies of them and read whole volumes. I went to Toson-kinen-kan to check datas. Secondely, all sentences were inputted into the computer to make up whole text database. I had to go to Toson-kinen-kan again and again, because my copies were unclear and had many missing pages. It took more than one year to finish works. Finally, I had inputted all datas on July, Heisei 9. they wre counted 42207 heads. I entitled them "Daikokuya-Nikki-All-Sentence-Database". I took out many useful datas from database for the study of diary. I also researched the diary wriiten by Genrokurou Furuhashi who was a "Gono" (GOUNO) and lived in Aichi prefecture. I am sure that his diary will be very useful to understand Daily life of village in Edo period. I published two significant studies from outstanding "Daikokuya-nikki". One is 'A study of Farmer's Diaries with an Emphasis on "Daikokuya-nikki". Another one is 'A possibility of Farmer's Diaries'.
