| Research Abstract |
This study aims at making a database of modem Lithuanian basic lexicon, to publish a Lithuanian-Japanese dictionary for the benefit of learners of the Lithuanian language.
From 1996 to 1998 the achievments of our aim are as follows :
In 1996 and 1997 we collected the basic words from many standard Lithuanian sources and analyzed their grammatical and stylistic infomation. In 1998, with the aid of our Lithuanian native consultant, we accomplished the database of modem Lithuanian basic lexicon. Furthermore on the basis of this database, we published a short Lithuanian-Japanese dictionary which contains about 10,000 word entries. This provides literary citations and prosodical and grammnatical infomation for individual forms. In this dictionary a sketch of Lithuanian grammar is included for the readers who are unfamiliar with the Lithuanian language.
