Research Abstract |
Radiographs which are used for computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) should have enouth diagnositc information. Effects of scattered x rays upon radiographs were investigated for construting a CAD system. 1.X-ray specturm measurement It is important to know the properties of x rays emitted from an x-ray tube, for evaluating quality of radiographs and colent's exposure. Measuring method using a pure germanium detector, lead disks and an empirical collimator was established. Additionally, spectra of clinical x-ray apparatus were measured using a codmiumzinc telluride detector, which is paid attention as a new x-ray detector, and its usefulness was proved. 2.Scatter fraction measurement A table equipped a moving grid system for experiment was developed. Using the table, we can exchange anti-scatter grid (grid hereafter) without moving experimental set-up. scatter fraction measuring method using a fluorescence-meter and lead^disks was established with the table. 3.Evaluation of anti-scatter grids Performance of grids were investigated using Monte Carlo simulation. A new grid for bedside radiography was evaluated experimentally. As a result, it was clarified that the new gird was very useful when it was used under proper exposure conditions. 4.Preparation for the construction of CAD system for swallowing For the analysis of swallowing, an x-ray TV system, an imaging system, an image processing and archiving system and a chair for video fluorography were selecte. Pneumonia coused by miss swallowing was prevented under the observation with video fluoroscopy and video endoscopy.
