Research Abstract |
The oscillation frequency of a semiconductor laser changes greatly depending on the drift current and the temperature. For this reason, the stabilization of the oscillation frequency of the semiconductor laser is a big problem in coherent light wave communication systems. Until now, the above-mentioned stabilization was done using the resonant frequency of atoms or molecules. Though this method yields good stabilization, however the resonant frequency becomes fixed, that is, it cannot be changed. In this research, we used the Fabry-Perot Etalon pair as a frequency standard, and used the cross-point of the resonant frequency response of the Etalon pair as a stabilizing point. Thus, by varying the thickness of the Etalon, we obtain any stabilizing frequency. An Etalon pair is compared with a single Etalon and the frequency stabihty was improved by about one digit.
