Research Abstract

1. The properties of fresh concrete were determined by varying aggregates mixing ratio and water-cement ratio (mixture of lightweight aggregate and normal-weight aggregate). The following aspects are clarified. The targeted properties for fresh conncrete were obtained by using light weight aggregate and normal-weight aggregate in various mixing ratios. We studied concrete containing varying mixing ratio of normal-weight aggregate and light weight aggregate, water-cement ratio. The following aspects are clarified. (1) The compressive strength increases as the mixing ratio of normal coarse aggregate increases, which can be estimated based on the unit volume weight as each water-cement ratio. (2) The static modulus of elasticity increases as the mixing ratio of normal fine aggregate and normal coarse aggregate increases, which can be estimated based on the unit volume weight regardless of water-cement ratio, which is applicable to Tomozawa and Noguchis' modulus estimation equation at water-cement ratio of 40% or less.
2. Influence of concrete using the blended fine aggregate of mixing ratio of 30% and 70% which were mixed normal sand with fero-nickel slag and copper slag on bleeding, strength and drying shrinkage of normal and light weight concrete were determined. The following aspects are clarified. On high-strength concrete, the blended fine aggregate can be used. On normal strength concrete, as the ratio of slag in the blended sand should be limited less than about 30%, it can be used as well as normal concrete.
