Research Abstract

Surface structures of the extracellular domain of alpha-chain of human IgE receptor was analyzed by atomic force microscopy (AFM) and low angle rotary shadwing replica technique. We observed the surface structure of the IgE receptor, IgE,and IgE receptor-IgE complex. The receptor were looked like almost spherical-shape by AFM,and doughnut-shape by the rotary shadowing replica. In the receptor-IgE complex IgE itself became more massive at one end of the molecule. These observations may contribute ot understand some aspects of the conformational change by ligand-receptor interaction.
