Research Abstract |
Purpose : Basic and clinical examinations of a bloodless angio-system using the newly devised vascular entry needle and one-way stopcock were performed. Materials and methods : The vascular entry needle is made of transparent outer cannula with a tiny membranous window and a built-in counter-reflux valve, and sharp metallic inner stylet with a tip protection sleeve after with drawing. The stopcock/catheter hub is a one-way valve with a built-in duck bill valve. Its basic performance was evaluated, and clinical evaluation was performed. Results : In the basic and clinical test, very little leakage of blood was observed using the vascular entry needle and stopcock ; thus, it was regarded as a bloodless angiographic examination. Conclusions : Use of the vascular entry needle and stopcock in angiography caused little leakage of biood, promissing to be an effective way of promissing infection of theoperators.
