Research Abstract |
When a patient is referred to another hospital, ultrasonographic pictures are often acompanied with the introduction letter. It would be more understandable if diagrams accounting the configuration of the pictures were coupled with them. The aim of this study is to try to make such diagrams for kidney and prostate using a personal computer. 1. Results for kidney : In addition to body surface, ribs appeared to be convenient position markers though establishment of an objective and steady method is needed to indicate the slice position of a diagram. Moreover, when the border between suffered lesion and normal area is obscure, the diagram had better be subjected to some undeveloped contrivance to avoid misunderstanding. As for making a database of many sample cases, how to extract the most suitable case is remained to be considered. The number of piled cases is still small and advances of renal adaptation are poor. 2. Results for prostate : Application of biplane planimetry via transrectal ultrasonography to constitute a diagram is tried and sample cases are now piling up. The method of three-dimentional expression using commercial software has already published by kimura et al. in 1995. This project will contribute mainly to the differential diagnosis between cancer and benign hyperplasia as well as their treatment decision. Prostate seems a good candidate for this project because of less variety of diseases and self-training program may be materialized.
