Research Abstract |
Inquiring Abilities of Students' into Experimental Results in Elementary Physics This study makes research on how students pursue better experimental method to reach physical standard values and keep measured values from scattering as much as possible. The research focuses on following experimental tasks ; 1. Standard experiments in elementary physics : (1) Frequency measurement of a tuning fork (2) Forcal length measurement of a thin lens 2. Experiments specislly designed to develop the inquiring ability of students' : (1) Electric resistances of cooking aluminum foils (2) Constraction of a voltmeter and measurement of electric resistances 3. Experiments using daily life materials to measure : (1) Sound speed in air using castanets (2) Refractive index using marking pins (3) Brightness of a miniature light bulb using solar battery It can be concluded as follow ; many students do not give enough consideration to measured values and tend to hand in impressionistic reports after the type 3 assigments as well as the type 1 regardless of their difficalties. However the type 2 in which explanations are given between each step of experiments lead them to write successful reports.
