Research Abstract

1. Constructing Databases of Social Studies Test Items
First, we made some frames for grouping test items.
Second, we developed Databases by using a personal computer.
Third, we gathered various test items (entrance exam, term test, etc.) and registered them in a personal computer to make them easy to use for researchers and teachers.
2. The Development of Methods for Making Test Items
We analyzed existing good test items, and restructured them to construct the theory of making test items. Then we developed peculiar methods for making test items which includes the decision of evaluation purpose and evaluation criteria, and the study of children's cognitive structure.
3. The Development of Social Studies Test Items
Based on the theory above, we developed test items (Geography and History) for junior high school students.
4. The Analysis of Children's Cognitive Structure in Soving
First, we analyzed children's anawers to test items in Geography and History tests for junior high school students. Based on the analysis above, we guessed children's cognitive structure and clarified the conditions which are required in making tests.
