Research Abstract |
(1) IN ORDER TO CHECK THE RELATION BETWEEN THE VILLAGE AND THE WHOLE SOCIETY, BOTH METHOD OF COMMUNITY SURVEY AND EXTENSIVE SAMPLE SURVEY WERE APPLIED. (2) THE TABULATED DATA OF THE INTENSIVE COMMUNITY SURVEY METHOD SHOWED THE OPEN NATURE OF KOREAN VILLAGE IN ITS KEEPING THE RELATION WITH THE URBAN AREA, IN CONTRAST TO THE JAPANESE VILLAGE OF CLOSED STRUCTURE. (3) THE OCCUPATIONAL STRUCTURE OF THE SAME DATA SHOWED THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF PART-TIME FARMERS, WEAK TENDENCY OF TRANS-GENERATIONAL FAMILY SUCCESSION BY THE ELDEST SON, PARENT'S'STRONG DESIRE TO SEND THEIR CHILDREN TO BIG CITIES, AND LOOSE RELATION BEYOND THE LINEAGE WITHIN THE VILLAGE. (4) THE EXTENSIVE SAMPLE SURVEY DATA SHOWED SUCH FACTS AS THE HIGH PERCENTAGE OF AGED SINGLE AND COUPLED FAMILY, THE MUTUAL APPRECIATION BETWEEN THE HUSBAND AND WIFE TO THEIR DIVISION OF HOUSEHOLD WORKS, COMPARED TO THE JAPANESE CASE.
