Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is promoting Japan-UK joint researches on molecular genetics of Streptomyces. A workshop on molecular genetics of Streptomyces was held at John Innes research center (Norwich, UK) on October 1997. Fifteen Japanese researchers took part in the workshop and discussed about joint researches. The proceeding of the workshop was distributed to many researchers who study on Streptomyces. In the second year, 1998, three professors of John Innes research center (Sir. D.Hopwood, K.F.Chater and M.J.Bibb) visited Japan and discussed about joint researches with Japanese researchers. S.Horinouchi, head investigator of this study, visited John Innes research center on September. Y.Ohnishi, one of inverstigators of this study, stayed for three weeks at John Innes research center. He made experiments with some researchers of the center. Thanks to this study, many joint researches started and more intimate relationship was established between Japanese and English researchers.
