Research Abstract

(A) P1/ゼータクリスタリン(Plタンパク質)の植物での生理機能
1) P1タンパク質はシロイヌナズナへの酸化的ストレスにより発現が誘導され,酵母細胞で発現されると酵母に酸化的ストレス耐性を与える。P1タンパク質はNADPHを特異的電子供与体とする酸化還元酵素であり,電子受容体として様々なキノン,プラストキノン(PQ),およびアゾジカルボニル化合物を還元する新規な酵素であることを明らかにした(Mano,Babiychuck,etal.投稿中)。
2) P1たんぱく質を大量発現させたタバコは,葉緑体の循環的電子伝達活性が上昇し,活性酸素を生成する除草剤パラコートに対する耐性を獲得した(Slooten,Belles-Boix,Mano et al.,投稿準備中)。これらの結果は,P1タンパク質が葉緑体の光・酸素ストレスを緩和する生理機能を持つことを示す。
(B) 葉緑体での自動酸化的フラビンタンパク質
葉緑体でフラビンデヒドロゲナーゼが光化学系Iから電子を受け還元型となり自動酸化でO_2^-を生成することを見いだした。
(C) water-water cycle
葉緑体でのO_2のH_2Oへの還元システムであるwater-water cycleについてのreviewをまとめた(Annu.Rev.Plant Physiol.50:601-639,1999)。
