Research Abstract

動脈硬化発症、進展における血管内皮細胞活性化につき注目し研究し、それに関わる酸化LDL、さらに酸化LDL生成過程で生じるリゾフォスファチルジルコリン(Lyso-PC)の重要性を示すと共に、酸化LDLの新たな受容体Lox-1を見出した。動脈硬化初期病変においては血管内皮細胞表面への接着分子の発現及び血管平滑筋細胞増殖因子の遺伝子発現が見出される。そこで、オーストラリア、米国に出張し研究発表ならびに研究の打ち合せを行った。中でも、接着分子(Athero-ELAM)の発見者であるGimbrone,Cybulsky博士と共同してLyso-PCによる接着分子発現機構を明らかにし、さらにIn Vivoにおける酸化LDL、Lyso-PCの存在様式の解明を行いまた、内皮細胞、平滑筋細胞増殖作用に有するthrombinの受容体をClomingしたCoughlin博士と共同して、酸化LDL、Lyso-PCによるthrombin受容体の遺伝子発現の分子機構を検討し、動脈硬化の発症、進展の分子機構について研究を行い新たな知見を得た。
