| Research Abstract |
In the science policy committee of OECD,there has been discussed the international cooperation in the fields of Mega Science. Among the working groups formed under the committee, Japan has an initiative role in two working groups on Nuclear Physics and Spallation Neutron Source. An international workshop was held at Tsukuba on March 3-7,1998, to discuss the future perspectives in these research fields. The total number of participants of the workshop was about 400 including about 120 scientists from 13 foreign countries. In the workshop, the present status of each country in these Mega Science fields was reviewed at first. There were many interesting reports not only from the US and Europian countries but also from the Asian countries ; China, Korea, and India etc.Through the intensive discussions, it was agreed to further promote the international collaborations in these research fields. As a conclusion of the workshop, the final reports is going to be submitted to the science policy committee, soon.
