Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to obtain basic and applied knowledge for increasing production of important food crops in Japan and China with biotechnological techniques. In order to summarize the research results and prospect for further research, we have been a sufficient discussion because it is the last year of the cooperative research. Fortunately, the cooperative research project has been greatly advanced since Dr. Delin Hong, a representative of China-side, has been in Kagawa, Japan for a year. Furthermore, in order to determine the direction of international cooperation research in future and utilize the plant genetic resources effectively, the two researchers visited Nanjing Agricultural University, China National Hybrid Rice Research Center and Yunnan Agricultural University, and carried out enthusiastic discussions useful with many researchers. We exchanged opinions actively with researchers of rice research institutes in Nanjing Agricultural University and Yunnan Agricultural University respectively and it is recognized that some of the mutants kept in Kagawa University are also useful genetic resources in China. Furthermore, most of the researchers in China National Hybrid Rice Research Center agreed that the new techniques being developed in the cooperative research project between Japan and China would benefit hybrid rice seed production in China. Moreover, it is greatly expected to study further and apply the technique cooperatively. The achievements obtained by exchange of researchers between the two universities contain not only the cooperative research result but also the creation of new cooperative research titles, and on the basis, exchange of young teachers and (graduate) students is also developing. It is expected that the exchange between the two universities will continuously go forward and develop further in future.
