Research Abstract |
This project undertaken to perform 「Study on Biofunctional Restorative Material with Pulpal cell」, was funded in part by a 3-year grant in aid from the Monbusho (Ministry of Education) International Scientific Research Program -University- to University Cooperative Research, as a joint effort between the Department of Restorative Dentistry, University of California, San Francisco, School of Dentistry and the Department of Operative Dentistry and Endodontics, Niigata University Faculty of Dentistry. This study consists of the following three parts. 1) Research concerning with the human dentin : the ultra-microstructure of the human sound and carious dentin, dentin demineralization, the dentin substrate, and human dentin and the dentin resin adhesive interface. 2) Research concerning with the dental pulp : the cell-biological and immunohistochemical studies on the pulpal function of normal teeth, and the reaction of dental pulp to the various external irritations. 3) Research concerning with the dental materials : fluoride release from the various adhesive dental materials, fluoride uptake by human enamel and dentin from materials, and its effect to acid resistance.
