We published The Annuals of the Japanese Political Science Association : ASIANISM IN THE JAPANESE FOREIGN POLICY as a result of researches. Four investigators(Kitaoka, Lnoue, Kusunoki and Osawa) undertook researches of Japanese diplomatic history from Meiji era to Post-war period. In result, we cleared by analyzing unpublished materials the keynote of Asianism in Early Modern Japanese Korea Policy and the process of making of the Post-war Japanese Diplomacy toward Asia. Five investigators (Sakamoto, MizobeYamamuro, Sakai and Matsuda) did work on relations between Asianism and Japanese Diplomacy. The main themes were as follows. (1) The Idea of Asia and its Incongruity in Early Modern Japanese Political Thought. (2) Sei-Kan ron[advocacy of Korean expedition] and the Spirit of the Nation. (3) Complex Intersections of Japanese Diplomacy and Asianism. (4) East Asia Cooperative Community and Modernization Theory. The discussions and writing took place several times a year, in the course of which we did collective studies and worked close cooperation.
