Research Abstract

This study was designed to assess the effect of Perfluorotributylamine/Pluronic F-68 Stem-Emulsion (FC43se) administration on post-ischemic cardiac function after CPB (cardiopulmonary bypass).
(Methods) After 60min CPB, the beagle dog heart was submitted to warm ischemia state for 30min at 36゚C.Then the heart was made to resume heart beating. Experimental groups were divided into two groups. In control(C) group (n=19) and FC43se-administration (FC) group (n=14), 10m1 of saline and FC43se were infused into aortic root just before aortic unclamping, respectively. The physiological parameters of left ventncular(LV) function (Emax, maxdp/dt ) were measured at 3 time points (before CPB, 30min after re-beating, 60min after re-beating). Left ventricular specimens were taken for histologic examination at 30 min and 60min after re-beating.
(Results) 1. ESPVR=Emax : FC group (before CPB 19.0*1.7mmHg/ml : 30min after re-beating 14.2*1.4 ; p<.0001 vs C Group, recovery rate=RR 73.4*11.3% : p<.000l vs C Group : 60min after re-beating 18.2*2.7, RR 96.0*7.1%). C group (before CPB 20.5*3.4 : 30min after re-beating 10.7*2.0, RR 52.9*11.4% : 60min after re-beating 18.2*3.9, RR 88.9*8.1%). 2.max dpfdt : FC group (before CPB 3555.3*349.3mmHg/s : 30mm after re-beating 2119.4*536.2, RR 59.9*14.5% 60min after re-beating 2859.7*126.4, RR 81.2*15.9%). C group (before CPB 2834.1*427.6 : 30min after re-beating 1357.5*107.6, RR 49.8*20.3% : 60min after re-beating 2436.0*142.7, RR 85.9*16.9%). No significant differences in max dp/dt values between two groups were detected. And no histological change in myocardiac tissues were detected in all specimens.
(Conclusion) Although FC43se administration had effect on early recovery of the cardiac function after CPB, the satisfactory effect of FC43se could not be proved.
