Research Abstract |
(1) Linear motor Linear motor, No. AHA98-B, which was a key component of artificial heart, was designed and manufactured based on collaborated research with Shinko Electric Co. Ltd. Mover and stator of the linear motor were made of the permendure with high flux saturation density, it was capable of mounting for a small-sized linear sensor. The linear motor has 0.23 litters of the volume, 1.6 kilograms of the mass, it was possible to generate high linear thrust of 105 newtons at 6.5 watts of the input power. (2) Linear sensor Small-sized linear sensor using magneto-resistive elements was made based on collaborated research with Sankyo Seiki Co., Ltd. The small-sized linear sensor was used a pair of magneto-resistive element with 3 mm X 4 mum of the area. The linear sensor had the measuring range of 30 mm, the resolution of 0.2 mm. (3) Artificial heart having a linear servomotor Linear servomotor for artificial heart including the above linear motor and linear sensor was achieved. The linear servomotor had the stroke of 20 mm, kinetic thrust of the linear servomotor had 90-70 newtons at the pulsating range from 80 to 130 beats per minute, it was enough to operate the blood pump. The kinetic thrust of the linear servomotor had 50-30 % higher the ordinary linear motor without feedback. More powerful linear artificial heart than the ordinary linear artificial heart was completed based on the results of the research.
