| Research Abstract |
We developed an audio-visual stimulus presentation system for measuring human magnetoencephalogram. When measuring evoked magnetic field from human brain in an electronically shielded chamber, any noisy resources originated from electronic stimulus presentation devices are strictly prohibited in order to measure noise-free high-quality magnetic field associated with psychological tasks. We developed noise-free presentation system using PC-based visual stimulus presentation system using mirror-based projection screen, in which any moving visual stimulus, i.e., motion, motion-aftereffect, apparent motion, could easily be presented on side or top wall screen in the chamber subject stayed in bed. Also audio presentation was developed in which subject could hear reading span test voice via noise-free speaker system. In addition, we developed the modified version of these for event-related brain potential experiments, in which similar electrically induced noise should be avoided but with weaker criterion. In event-related potential study, we made infra-red-based fiber communication line to detect subject's judgment in stead of electric button system. Software associated with these systems was also developed for working memory and visual perception experiments. The experiments done by using these system were reported in the report form and published papers are also reported.
