Research Abstract |
We are working on the superplasticity in ceramics with a special interest to break through the present limitations in superplasticity research. The past research on superplasticity was made mainly by analysing the flow stress against strain rate relationship to find a rate-controlling mechanism. This is one of the effective ways to understand the superplastic flow invarious materials including caramics. However, the limitation of this type of macroscopic analusis is in the tact that it is hard to make clear the atomistic mechanism of superplastic flow. We examined to analyze the grain b'ry structure and the chemical bonding state in grain b'ries of superplastic ceramics, and formed that our very microscopic approach is, no doubt, a new challenge to break through the study on superplasticity, in pavticular, ceramic materials, in which the flow behavior is very sensitive to grain b'ry chemisfy and atomic bonding state. Our new approach is aninnovation in superplasticity research.
