Research Abstract |
Full-scale measurement on the service performance for the 499 G. T. Coastal Cargo Ship 'Shoyo-Maru' has been conducted and the following conclusions are obtained : 1)The comparison of the statistical and spectrum analysis shows that the Raleigh distribution is also valid for the evaluation of the ship responses in the coastal waves. 2)Long-term distributions of ship responses in coastal waves can be estimated by using the same method for the ocean going ship. 3)The variation of ship speed, winds and ship responses with the sea areas and seasons has been shown. 4)The speed loss is considerably affected by the current and the effect of wind is quite small. 5)The fuel consumption can be approximately estimated from the measured data of ship responses. 6)The distribution of acceleration in the cargo hold can be estimated from the measured data of ship responses in the bridge. 7)The distribution of acceleration in the cargo hold can be qualitatively estimated from the ship motions evaluated by the strip method along with the wave data shown in the Log-book. 8)The operation diagram for the master considering maximum acceleration in the cargo hold and the flowchart for operation to prevent cargo spill has been shown.
