Research Abstract |
THE PURPOSE OF THIS STUDY WAS TO EXAMINE THE EFFECTS OF PARENTS' PERSONALITY AND REARING BEHAVIOR ON THEIR CHILDREN'S PERFECTIONISM. IN STUDY 1, COLLEGE STUDENTS RATED BOTH THEIR PERFECTIONISM AND THEIR PARENTS' PERFECTIONISM.THE RELATIONS OF THEIR PERFECTIONISM AND THEIR MOTHERS' PERFECTIONISM WERE POSITIVE.ANOTHER COLLEGE STUDENTS RATED BOTH THEIR PERFECTIONISM, AND THEIR MOTHERS' PERSONALITY ANDR EARING BEHABIOR.THE MOTHERS' PERSONALITY OF SHORT-TEMPER, PERFECTIONISM, AND SEVERITY TO THEIR CHILDREN AND ALSO REARING BEHAVIOR OF CONTROLLING THEIR CHILDREN AND ASKING FOR PERFECTIONISM WERE POSITIVELY RELATED TO THEIR CHINDRENS' PERFECTIONISM. IN STUDY 2, A NEW PERFECTIONISM SCALE AND THE RELATED SCALES WERE ADMINISTERED TO JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THE SCALE WAS VALIDATED.THE SAME STUDENTS ALSO RATED THEIR MOTHERS' PERSONALITY AND REARING BEHAVIOR.THE RESULTS WERE SAME IN STUDY 1. IN STUDY 3 AND 4, TEACHERS IN KINDERGARTENS RATED TIRE CHILDRENS' PERFECTIONISM.THE MOTHERS RATED THEIR PERFECTIONISM AND REARING BEHAVIOR AND THEIR CHILDREN'S PERFECTIONISM.THE CHILDREN'S PERFECTIONISM WAS POSITIVELY RELATED TO THEIR MOTHERS' PERFECTIONSIM AND REARING BEHAVIOR OF ASKING THEM FOR PERFECTIONISM IN EVERYDAY LIFE.
