Research Abstract |
Among the eminent Taiwanese writers in Japanese language before the War, there are Yang Kui, Zhang Wenhuan, Lu Heruo, and Wang Changxiong, all of whom have the experience of studying in Tokyo from 1920's to 1940's. This research aimed to analyze the formation of Taiwanese Literature of the pre and during war periods by studying the history of the experience in Tokyo as students of these writers, while learning from the preceding research on the market of reading. Main results are as follows : (1) Depicted the process of maturity of the market of reading pre and during war periods, while writing the history of the preceding research. (2) Researched the experience of Lu Heruo, who is the type of the writer of the Renaissance and is called "The Most Talented Literary Man in Taiwan," as a student at The Tokyo Vocal College, a dictionary editor at Obun-sha publishing company, a member of chorus group of Toho Theater and so on, and analyzed the process of the formation of "Taiwanism " in him. (3) Researched the experience of NISHIKAWA Mitsuru, who was one of the most eminent Japanese cultural men in Taiwan, as a student abroad in Tokyo and his literary career after he came back to Taiwan, and compared them to those of Lu Heruo and others. (4) Wrote a few papers and books basing on these research results. (5) Widely open these research results and materials and invite those researchers in and out of Japan and will hold the symposium "Maturity of Cultural Circles in Prewar Taipei " at the 45th International Conference of Eastern Studies held on May 19, 2000 by The Institute of Eastern Culture.
