| Research Abstract |
The aim of this project is to construct a digital image database of Nepalese manuscripts preserved in microfilm forms. In total 11,131 folios of manuscripts were transformed in digital format. The themes of the manuscripts mainly concern Saivism and Tantric Buddhism and their provenances are the German-Nepal Manuscripts Preservation Program, the Institute for the Advanced Study of World Religions and others. The admission to make them open to the world-wide researchers via Internet is still to be negotiated.
The database management system for manuscript research developed in a former research project is renewed so that now it works on an editor software on MS Windows95 and Windows98.
The exact bibliographic data of the manuscripts thus digitalized are to be found in our report of result of this project.
