Research Abstract |
To edit a Bulgarian-Japanese dictionary, first we collected material such as words and phrases (as possible entries) for the dictionary. We looked into the sentences in which they appeared. Next, we studied the editing process. the purpose was to make access to the dictionary as easy as possible. We have decided on the process with ten steps. This was done so that the data generated is stored into files according to data formats. Next, we have developed utility programs which form the support system to edit the dictionary. These programs can be used in paralled and are classified into 3 subsystems. (a) program that can handle the Japanese, English. Cyrillic letters (on an input form keyboard, display on the CRTS and edit ) (b) programs to process materials and support dictionary editing. ・with each entry - attach the appropriate information from the material base ・with each entry - syllabify it and generate phonetic symbol (c) programs to get high quality printing with Japanese, English and Cyrillic letters Most of the subsystem ( a) was already developed before the beginning of this project, but some modifications and changes became necessary after the beginning. The TeX system, a well-known software with a high quality printing system, is used at the last stage in the subsystem (c). We developed the program which converts the dictionary data files generated in the subsystem (b) to the files in TeX format. We also develop some macros for the TeX system. The Subsystem (b) is the main part of our support system. Our support system works well to edit the dictionary, and the dictionary with about 2300 entries will be made soon.
