Research Abstract |
For the synthesis of urease-model complexes, the following new dinuclear metal complexes with bimacrocyclic ligands were synthesized and characterized mainly by single crystal X-ray structural analysis. (1) Bimacrocyclic dinuclear metal complexes, where two macrocycles were linked by various length of polymethylene (n = 2 - 6) bridge. Structural analysis of these complexes suggested that the trimethylene bridged bimacrocycle might be suitable for the preparation of a urease-model complex. (2) Phthaloyl and o-xylylene bridged bimacrocyclic ligands and their nickel(II) complexes were synthesized. Their properties and structures were determined. (3) The dinuclear nickel(II) complex with a 2-hydoroxy-propylene bridged bimacrocyclic iigand was synthesized. This complex has a similar structure to that of the active site of urease ; namely, two nickel(II) ions were linked very closely by the alkoxo bridge to form the closed complex, which was stable in an aqueous solution. The dinuclear nickel(II) complex was one of structural model complexes for urease. (4) The dinuclear nickel(II) complex with N, N, N^', N^'-tetrakis(3-aminopropyl)-1, 3-diaminopropan-2-ol, intermediate compound in the synthesis of bimacrocyclic complexes, was synthesized. It was revealed that the obtained complex was more similar to the urease active site than the nickel(II) complex obtained in the above (3).
