Research Abstract |
This study carried out for 2 years, and the results are summarized as follows : 1. Development of an Autonomous Measurement System of a Physical Model The developed autonomous measurement system obtains several shadow images of a clay model, which is roughly and shortly created by a designer or an engineer according to the rough information such as a sketch, by COD cameras. And a rough Z-map model is automatically constructed from the shadow images. Then the position. vectors and the unit normal vectors of points on the targeted clay model are autonomously measured. 2. Development of a System for Improving the Quality of Measurement Data N points in the vicinity of a voluntary point selected from among the measurement points are extracted. In order to define a quadratic surface, the least square method is then applied to the measurement data : the position vectors and the unit normal vectors. The position vectors and the unit normal vectors on the selected points are modified as points on the defined quadratic surface. As the result, the quality of he measurement data is improved by applying the process to the all measurement points. 3. Development of a System for constructing a beauty shape model An aesthetic shape model with curvature continuity is automatically constructed from the improved measurement data. The shape and the high light lines of the shape are indicated to a designer or an operator. When the high light lines are changed by the designer or the operator, a new shape with the modified high light lines are created.
