Research Abstract |
From the research during 1997 to 1998, the following results have been obtained. 1. The study on a simulating approach for skiing (1)The simulating approach developed and improved by the author was rearranged. It was presented at "The 2nd International Conference on The Engineering of Sport held on 15th July, 1998 in England. The title was "Simulation of a ski turn". (2)The simulation approach was improved for taking into consideration the effect of a centrifugal force acting on a skiing system. It was presented at the "D & D CONFERENCE '99" on 16th April, 1999, which was held by The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. The title was "Effect of centrifugal force on ski turn". (3)The simulating approach was improved for discussing effects of movement of each part of skier's body on ski turn. It was presented at "International Meeting of Sports Science, Commemorating the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano on 2nd Feburary, 1998. 2. Skiing experiment by using skiing robots (1)A few types of skiing robot with two legs were developed and, by using them, skiing experiments were carried out. Experimental results were presented at "International Meeting of Sports Science, Commemorating the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano on 2nd Feburary, 1998. The title was "Development of Skiing Robot and Its Application". (2)A few types of skiing robots with one leg were developed. (3)By using a very simple skiing system consisting of mass and ski, skiing experiments were carried out. The experimental results were presented at the conference on 20th April, 1999, which was held by the Tokai branch of The Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers. The title was "Effects of ski's shape and mechanical properties on ski turn". 3. Numerical results agreed qualitatively well with experimental results.
