Research Abstract |
In recent years, in addition to the function of flood control and water supply, the river repair which aimed at preservation and recovery of natural environment must be performed. Enbayment is the one of the so-called many natural type river construction. In this research, in order to obtain the fundamental information which can be used for the designing artificial enbayment, small-scale enbayment is installed in experimental flume, and the characteristic of the flow in enbayment, and sediment deposition into enbayment were investigated. It became clear from measurement of flow field that the structure of flow has tendency to carry bed sand into enbayment. That is, the flow near the bed is toward enbayment. To prevent near-bed flow toward enbayment, vane was installed at the boundary of enbayment and main channel. The size of enbayment used for experiments is a square with a opening length of 8 cm, and a width of 8 cm. The size of vane is length of 4 cm and height of 1.5cm, and flow depth was 4.5 cm. The angle of a vane was selected to 0, 1/10, and 1/5 in slope rate. It was cleared from experiments that the installation of vane is useful to prevent sediment deposition in enbayment, and inclination angle of 0 of the vane was the most effective for decreasing sediment deposition in enbayment.
