Research Abstract

The purpose of this research is to clarify experimentally and analytically such mutual actions that the effect of the change of heat and moisture environment in underground structure on the surrounding ground and the effect of heat and moisture environment in the surrounding ground on the internal environment in the basement.
Temperature and humidity in underground space and temperature and moisture contents in the surrounding ground were measured in the natural conditions which mean no heat and moisture generating load in the space. It was shown that temperature and humidity in underground space was effected by the quantities of air change and especially humidity was much effected by the change of outdoor humidity. It was found that the temperature in the surrounding ground under one mater depth from the surface was not effected by the daily change of out door temperature and the temperature in the surrounding ground under two meter depth was effected by the room air temperature in the basement .The ground water level were measured continuously and the level was stabilized between -80cm and -120cm under the surface of floor in the case of no rainfall, Using the results obtained from measurements of moisture contents, a kind of ground soil was estimated and it was found that the kind of the soil might be assumed the sand. The thermal and moisture analysis of underground space and the surrounding ground are performed by using the analytical model, and the experimental values of the temp and moisture field in the ground and room climate were compared with the calculated values. The results show that the good agreement between the experimental temperature and the analytical temperature was obtained near the surface of the ground.
