Research Abstract

The genes of cellobiose phosphorylase and cellodextrin phosphorylase were cloned and these genes expressed effectively in Eschrichia coli. These enzymes were obtained easily from E. coli cells. Using these enzyme, the cellooligosaccharides whose reducing end was p-nitrophenol or 14C-labeled glucose were synthesized. These oligosaccharides was effective tool to elucidate of mechanism of cellulose hydrolysis by cellulases.
