Research Abstract |
This study consists of two phases focusing on methodology as follows ; First, our study deals with some methodologies for surveying social and economic activities in rural communities. In particular, we consider a theoretical priority of qualitative aspect to quantitative aspect in social research. From a result of this study, it is clarified that all processes of social research in rural communities can be regarded as a social movement. Second, the study is to examine useful methodologies for analyzing the data aggregated by social researches in rural communities. We try to develop the theories and practices of some methodologies for analyzing the social information, which involves social, economic and demographic characters in rural communities, for instance, depopulation of rural communities, its relation to urbanization, local development of industries and so on. For this purpose, the data of agricultural census 1995 is applied to the following methodologies ; (1) Applications of statistical pattern analysis. (2) Applications of principal component analysis. (3) Applications of quantification method type 3 in the combined case of continuous and discrete variables. (4) Applications of tree based model.
