Research Abstract |
Neo adjuvant therapy for esophageal cancer using CDDP and 5-FU is based on the theory of biochemical modulation by CDDP which supresses the cellular intake of methionine. In this study, we estimated the usefulness of 11 C-Methionine PET in prediction of the effect of CDDP- 5-EU for esophageal cancer. (RESULT) Esophageal cancer showed significantly higher uptake of 11 C-Methionine than normal part of esophagus, and the uptake was related to the effect of the radiochemotherapy and also chemotherapy alone(p<0.05). 11C-Methionine PET revealed to be useful modality for the prediction of the neo adjuvant chemotherapy for esophageal cancer using CDDP and 5-FU.
