Research Abstract |
In order to develop the metal-BMP composites, absorb of the BMP to the surface of metals were investigated, then some metals and BMP were combined together to estimate its osteoinductive activity. Recombinant BMP was synthesized by sf-9cells infected by Baculo virus, which was, inserted the BMP gene. However, the osteoinductive activity of the recombinant BMP was 1/10 of BMP which was extracted from natural resource, Other system was also investigated, but all recombinant BMP showed faint osteoinductive activity. On the contrary, the method of extraction of water soluble BMP derived from bovine bone was established steadily and stable amount of BMP was being extracted. An unknown protein was extracted during the purification of BMP and it was determined as osteonectin by the amino acid analyses. As other proteins contained in bone may act natural carrier of BMP, the purification of that protein is on the experiment. Pure titanium showed excellent affinity to BMP as preliminary experiment. Anodic oxdized treatment was performed on the surface of pure titanium and the specimen with gelatin carrier was estimated remarkably high osteoinductive activity. Sand blasted experimental group showed also significantly high osteogenesity, Generation of highly purified BMP or recombinant BMP and the surface treatment of metals will be main subject of BMP for the clinical investigation.
