Research Abstract |
Towards a realization of an acoustic visual aid system for the visually impaered, a basic studies were made using 3D acoustic sound processor. The system displays acoustically through the headphone 3D sounds which corresponds the localization of an obstacles to be catched. To evaluate such acoustic system, a bsic study was made also in a virtual space, where an obstacle is thought to exist. In this basic study, the subjects moves virtually using ajoystic bar, which moves camera position viratually again. In actual space, the subjects wears a headmount camera, which catches the obstacles at last before generating sounds corresponding the position of the obstacles. The over all results show that this method is effective to reach and to catch an obstacles , even the time is necessary than expectation, which shall be reduced using high speed computers.
