Research Abstract

落葉樹葉と常緑樹葉の光合成特性について、以下の解析を行った。
1) 常緑広葉樹シラカシと一年生草本シロザの光合成の窒素利用効率(PNUE、光合成速度/窒素比)を解析した。シラカシのPNUEはシロザの半分であるが、これは、葉緑体内のCO2濃度が低いことと、窒素あたりの光合成系酵素(RuBPCase)量が少ないこと、RuBPCaseの比活性が低いことに起因した。それぞれの寄与は小さかったが、積み重なることによってPNUEの大きな違いをもたらした。この結果はFunctional Ecology誌に発表した(Hikosaka,Hanba,Hirose&Terashima 1998)。
2) 常緑広葉樹アラカシ・マテバシイ・ヤブツバキと落葉広葉樹シラカンバ・クヌギのPNUEを比較した。落葉樹はPNUEが高かったが、シラカンバでは窒素あたりのRuBPCase量が高く、クヌギでは葉緑体CO2濃度が高かった。ヤブツバキは窒素あたりのRuBPCase量も葉緑体CO2濃度も低かった。
3) シラカシの光合成の温度順化について解析を行った。異なる温度で育てると光合成の温度依存性が変化することが知られている。この生理学的なメカニズムを調べ、二つの部分反応(RuBPの炭酸同化反応と再生反応)のバランスの変化によって光合成の温度依存性が変化することを明らかにした(Hikosaka,Murakami&Hirose,in press)
