Research Abstract |
The Parafontaria laminata complex includes the three species and one subspecies. The out break of some broods of famous Parafontaria laminata armigera occurred in 1997 and 1999. Especially, The out break in 1999 were seen at two different areas in autumn. The one occurred at the area near Mt. Hachibuse which is located in Shiojiri. It included only the immature adult. The other occurred at the wide mountainous areas from neighborhood of Shirakabako Lake to Mt. Kirigamine. It included only the 7th instar. These were the progeny which population were from the outbreak populations in 1991 and 1992, The trials of making chromosome preparations were done for these individuals but failed because the expansion of chromosome in preparation were not well. The field survey was conducted at several areas where the previous outbreak were recorded. In some of these areas, the 3rd, 6th, and 7th instars were collected as predicted. These populations will have the outbreak from 2000 to 2004. The periodicity of the outbreak in every eight years was maintained completely in each locality.
