太陽から磁気赤道域に侵入する擾乱エネルギーの輸送過程解明

Research Abstract

地上磁場の日変化はその上空電離圏E層領域(100-150km)を流れる電流の変動と等価であるとされ、電離圏の電気伝導度と背景電場の積で記述される。これらのパラメータは太陽から電離圏に侵入する次の2つの擾乱エネルギーに支配されている。一つは光エネルギーで、太陽からの電磁放射のうち極紫外線や紫外線は地球の超高層大気に直接的な電離作用を及ぼし、電離圏を生成、その領域の電気伝導度を決定する。もう一方は電磁エネルギーで、太陽風の変動に伴い、磁気圏-電離圏結合を通じて地球の極域から電場として注入される。これら2つの擾乱エネルギー侵入過程のどちらがどれだけエネルギーの最終到着域である磁気赤道域で卓越するのか統計的・定量的に明らかにするのが本研究の目的である。
前年度までの研究結果に基づきグローバル電離圏電流系の地方時依存性、緯度依存性、月齢依存性、季節依存性、太陽活動度依存性を再現できる観測経験モデルを構築した。この経験モデルは太陽風擾乱の無視できる地磁気擾乱日のデータを基に作成されているため、その解析から、電離圏電流が光エネルギーの変化に対してどのように変動しているのか定量的に評価することができた。さらに経験モデルの電離圏電流と日々実際に観測される電離圏電流の比較から、電離圏電流が太陽風変動に伴う電磁エネルギーの変動に対してどのように変動するのかを定量的に評価することも可能となった。これらから、中低緯度-磁気赤道における電離圏電流の変動はおもに太陽の光エネルギーの変動が支配しており、太陽風変動に伴う電磁エネルギーの寄与はその半分以下であることが結論された。
電離圏電流観測経験モデルの詳細及び、2つの擾乱エネルギー侵入過程の定量的比較に関する研究結果は国際誌に投稿し2編とも既に受理されている。
