Research Abstract

本研究の目的は、認知的な意味が明確にされていないRetrieval Success現象の神経基盤を、サルにおける機能的磁気共鳴画像法(fMRI)による機能的ネットワークマッピングと電気生理学的記録を通して明らかにすることである。長期記憶にとって重要なことが分かっているサルの側頭葉嗅周皮質と機能的結合がある部位をfMRIにより同定し、Retrieval Success関連領域の候補を同定する。昨年度は、fMRIにより測定した脳の自発活動の時間的相関を利用して機能的結合をマッピングする方法(FC-fMRI法)を側頭葉嗅周皮質を含む下部側頭葉に対して最適化した。まず、マルチチャネル式送受信コイルを導入し、下部側頭葉に最適化したfMRI撮像パラメータを決定した。また、自発活動が効率良く検出できるタイプの麻酔薬(デクスメデトミジン)をサルのFC-fMRIで使用するプロトコルを開発した。更に、生理学的ノイズをデータ解析により軽減するため、画像ベースでの体動検出システム、独立成分分析によるノイズ除去、一般線形モデルによるノイズ除去を組み合わせた解析手法を開発した。このように実験・解析の両面で最適化したFC-fMRI法を用いて、3頭のサルから下部側頭葉の機能的結合マッピングを行った。このマッピングの結果を用いて嗅周皮質と、嗅周皮質との機能的結合が確認された前頭前野において同時電気生理記録を行い、FC-fMRI法に機能的結合を確認した部位では電気生理学的にも機能的結合が検出出来ることを確認した。
