Research Abstract |
This research program describes the framework of procurement and management of construction projects through international comparison. The countries this research targeted are the 5 developed countries : Japan, the United States, Great Britain, France, and Canada. The research was divided into the field survey and the discussion of the construction project. In the field survey, the investigation was executed by using the format common to each project. Large-scale projects such as power plants, tunnels, bridges, international airports, and complex buildings are included in the construction project. Each project was analyzed and discussed from the views of (1) feasibility study of the business plan, (2) project financing, (3) project organization, (4) project management (5) risk and uncertainty, (6) information systems, and (7) corporate strategies. The project data collected in each country was examined. A remarkable difference in the background of historical details, culture, the commercial custom, and industry is found in the method of management in each country. The execution of the project is esteemed when the enterprise and the production system of another country are brought in and the method of management is esteemed. For instance, the international movement is mutual of architect attestation, and mutual of professional engineer attestation. A lot of findings were obtained from these trends. It appears remarkable difference though the management method in each country. The problem is caused mutually in the region where the firms from the developed country are committing to a project overseas.
