Research Abstract |
We have participated in many Scientific Steering Committee of WCRP (World Climate Research Programme), investigated the present status and future direction of the International Climate Research Community and presented Japanese contribution to the International Research Community. Especially, we have proposed CEOP as a follow-on project of the GAME (GEWEX Asian Monsoon Experiment). Prof.Nakajima participated in the International Radiation Panel, where he reported his research results on the global distribution of aerosol and collected information on the cloud-climate interaction. Prof.Imawaki joined the SSC of WOCE to survey the research on the ocean circulation, and Prof.Yamazaki joined GCSS to investigate the numerical cloud model. Profs.Yasunari and Koike participated in the GEWEX-SSG to report the results of GAME and the concepts of CEOP in 2002-2003. The International Symposium entitled by メ WCRP in Japan モ was held at the Auditorium of Japanese Council of Society in 8-10, March 2000 when the JSC-21 was held at Tokyo in 13-17, March 2000. We invited Profs.B. Hoskins and P. Lemke to this symposium. In the first day of the symposium, GEWEX was discussed, when interesting and important results of GAME were presented. In the second day, ACSYS and SPARC were discussed and CLIVAR was discussed in the last day. For CLIVAR, the recent Japanese contribution to CLIVAR was well appreciated, such as the Earth Simulator, the Frontier Research Programme for Global Change and the Argo project.
