Research Abstract |
Face-to-face arranged double donor-acceptor pairs may be used as a single molecular ultrafast switching unit when the following criteria can be met. 1) Two donor pigments can be excitable by different color light, 2) One donor-acceptor pair cannot under electron transfer reaction due to the energetic reason, 3) the other pair undergoes efficient electron transfer reaction to generate an ion-pair, and 4) this ion-pair can facilitate the electron transfer of the other pair. With this design in mind, we prepared a set of model con-pounds. One of them displays unique electron transfer dynamics, influencing the electron transfer reaction in the other pair.
